Design, synthesis and finally preparation optimization of modern functional materials with specific properties is still a scientific challenge. In many cases the possible applications brings restrict requirements for the materials, which are necessary to fulfil. Chemical sensors posses many advantages being irreversible/reversible, easy to notice the changes and difficult to remove, still need to be prepare in the forms, which make them simply in use. One of the way to obtain such system is to incorporate organic dyes into the silica matrices. Despite being widely known and used the sol-gel technology combine with organic compounds still faces problems that are not observed for inorganic ones and can be affect by the pH or temperature. Together with results obtained for chemical sensors the speaker presents the current scientific areas develop in Materials Science & Engineering Center at Polish Center for Technology Development.
