Propolis (bee glue) is resinous substance bees collect from tree leaf buds and bark, such as poplars and conifers. Propolis contains pharmacologically active constituents such as polyphenols, terpenoids, steroids, and amino acids. Propolis has a broad spectrum of various biological and pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, antidiabetic, antitumor, anticaries, antivirus, anti-skin aging and immunomodulatory actions, due to its polyphenolic and flavonoids compositions.
We conduct pharmacological study of nano propolis through in silico method. We have published several research papers in reputable international journals that identified potential biological activities of propolis and biomarker compounds of propolis for certain pharmacological effect. Our in silico method were using molecular docking, molecular dynamic simulations, ADMET (absorption, distribution, excretion and toxicity) prediction, networking pharmacology and similarity of drug structure study. Recently, we have published our study about screening potential of all Asian propolis compounds for anti type 2 diabetes mellitus in Molecules (MDPI). We also published our study about anti spike glycoprotein SARS CoV-2 and neuroprotective effect of propolis in reputable Journal.
Since nanopropolis enhances its biological performances, we have synthesize nano propolis encapsulated nanochitosan to accelerate wound healing. Our method have been registered into a patent
